It was a successful outing to Somerford Show for Johnathan and Enamorado, who won the Somerford Championship and Open for owner Steve Valente-Smith.
Johnathan will be holding an Equestrian Evening on Friday 8 September (6:30-10:30) at Gerard Buxton Sports Ground in Royal Wooton Basset (SN4 8DS) with lectures on feeding, nutrition, safety and veterinary practices. There is a bar and nibbles will be provided. Tickets £5. Text/call Johnathan to reserve your tickets on 07905 602791.
Enamorado v Tangelo VD Zuuthoeve owned by Steven Valente-Smith and ridden by Johnathan came in seventh in the main arena at Hickstead during the Derby Meeting.
Following on from his success earlier in the week, Marcel des Rosiers and Johnathan pulled it out of the bag to come second in the 1.25m class in the main arena at Hickstead.
All going well for the JB team from the Hickstead Derby Meeting. Marcel des Rosiers qualified for the 1.25m final in the main arena, coming 5th in his first class of the week. Enamorado also pulled it out of the bag, coming 4th and qualifying to jump in the international arena at the weekend.
Day four and we are heading home. Can't wait for a bath and a Sunday roast! All horses jumped very well and well done to all pupils who put in a lot of effort at this show and hopefully gained a lot of experience. Lots of great clear rounds for the young horses and an equal first in the five-year-olds.
Day three at Bicton brought more clear rounds than day two. These are important learning experiences – especially for the young ones. It's been great to have several pupils here, enjoying the JB camp back at the lorry.
First day of Bicton has been a hot one. This week we're jumping classes from the five-year-old class right up to 1.35m. All the horses have jumped well with lots of double clears for the youngsters. The arenas are extremely well maintained and the surface is brilliant to jump off. There are 800 stables here – so it's quite busy.
We're fully packed and ready to go! Thanks to our trusty Woof Wear luggage, everything is organised and tidy. We have 10 horses attending Bicton this week: five for Johnathan to ride – most of them being youngsters – and five pupils who are based with Johnathan. Should be an interesting week! Roll on the start! #keepwinning.
No rest for the wicked! Fresh off his holidays, Johnathan landed at 1:30pm from Venice, and at 4pm rode Freule TN to 2nd place in the 1.30m at Rectory Farm. He's off to Bicton next for five days starting Wednesday – stay tuned for daily blog updates!
We had a good weekend at the Welsh Masters, Marcel des Rosier won the 1.25m final. He was great, did a good clean and fast double clear. We had a much better draw this year which meant that I could watch a few of the earlier riders and see which routes were successful.
When it was our turn to go we had no room for error as the leader was fast, but just like last year Marcel jumped his socks off and we pulled it out the bag to retain our title. A good weekend from all the horses, the 5-year-olds jumped well in the novice each day and had one unfortunate fence in the 5-year-old final. Freule brought home 4th place in the Foxhunter on the final day.
Johnathan attended the Blue Chip Championships at Hartpury College with Marcel des Rosiers and Freule TN. Marcel placed second and ninth in the 1.25m. Well done to all JB Showjumping students, many of whom had good placings and achieved personal best rounds.
Happy customer, Tor Blizzard, is enjoying her time with JB Showjumping alumni, Diva.
Johnathan welcomes new sponsor, Flying Changes to the team. Their high quality, bespoke jackets are worn by many champions, including Charlotte Dujardin and Carl Hester. They also provided the jackets for the Olympic team at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Be sure to have a look at their gorgeous clothing, and get yourself outfitted in a new, bespoke jacket for the upcoming season. They're local, located in Royal Wotton Basset – so do show your support!
Johnathan made the trip to Summerhouse on the 21st of March with Freule, Enimirado and Penvard. Freule TN was second in the Newcomers, Enimirado won the 1.10m and Penvard won the 1.05m.
Johnathan kicked off the new year at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre, with a win in the 1m open on Alvescot Party Time and 4th in the same class with Freule TN. Two JB-sourced horses also performed well – Happy, sold to Chelsea Hall, and Diva, sold to Tor Blizzard, both put in sold performances.
Congratulations to Emily Chambers on the purchase of Garcia. Johnathan and his team wish Emily continued success with this great horse.
Johnathan found success at the first edition of the Summerhouse Christmas Cracker show in Gloucester. Alvescot Party Time was sixth in the 1.05m Final, Penvard was second in the 1.10m Final, and Marcel Des Rosiers was third in the 1.20m Final.
Equisupplies, a supplier of premium wood shavings, has joined the JB Showjumping team as a new sponsor. Johnathan was impressed by the quality of the bedding, especially the Pure Green Flax. You can check out their range of products at www.equisupplies.co.uk.
